TLD’s Seely Comes Out Swinging in Oakland

OAKLAND, CALIF. (February 3, 2018) – Troy Lee Designs rider Cole Seely bounced back in a big way at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, grabbing the holeshot and leading laps on his way to sixth at Round 5 of the Monster Energy Supercross series. In addition to the solid showing in the main event, Seely also collected his first heat race win of the season and moved up to fourth in the championship standings.

Seely didn’t waste any time showcasing his speed as he grabbed the victory in his heat race. Knowing that the start was going to be critical on the slick and soft track, Seely put all his effort into a good jump and it showed with his first holeshot of the season. As the laps ticked off, Seely looked comfortable out front, but a small mistake cost him time and he was pushed back to fifth. He would eventually finish strong, just outside the top five in sixth.

“The track really forced a lot of mistakes tonight like I haven’t seen in a long time,” said Seely. “Even the smallest mistake turned into something much bigger and costly. I felt so good so it’s such a bummer to see that win slip through my hands, but after losing the lead I did my best to stay consistent and strong. Even with the mistake, this ride gives me a ton of momentum going into the next race. I always have liked racing in San Diego and with this solid race under my belt, it should be a good night.”

Seely started the day wearing the GP Jersey Checker Black and GP Pant Mono Black before changing for the main event into the GP Jersey Cosmic Camo Black and GP Pant Cosmic Black. He rounded out the look by wearing the SE4 Composite Helmet Freedom Black.
