Troy Lee Designs’ Troy Brosnan Land on the Podium in Switzerland

Corona, Calif. (July 12, 2017) – Troy Lee Designs rider Troy Brosnan rode a stellar run down the Swiss mountainside in Lenzerheide to post a time just 0.16 seconds off the winner, helping him secure second in the Downhill general classification. He’s currently sits second in the standings. Luca Shaw also posted a good run to earn sixth. Jack Moir finished just outside the top-10 in 11th, but the story was Aaron Gwin’s outstanding run that went off the rails after the final split when he ripped the tire off his rim, which pushed him back to 51st. After taking the win at the previous round, Brosnan put himself in good position to challenge for the point’s lead in Switzerland. The course was a tad slower during qualifying where he scored second, but overnight rains helped prep the course for a great race day. When his run was over, Brosnan was one of just four riders to score times under three minutes. His second-place finish propelled him to a 12-point lead in the standings. American Luca Shaw also put in an impressive run in Switzerland, after having a tough time in qualifying where he went 53rd following a flat. He didn’t let Day 1 keep him from a great performance when it counted and he came away with sixth. Jack Moir qualified 16th on Saturday and made an even better run during Sunday’s main event where he ran a time good enough for 11th. Finishing in the top 15 was Charlie Harrison who ran a solid time to score 14th. The story of the day went to Troy Lee Designs rider Gwin who scored first during Saturday’s qualifying round. On the final run of the day, Gwin knew what he had to do and he was doing it – running 1.5 seconds ahead of the leader going into the final segment. Unfortunately, he was going fast enough for his tire to come apart from the rim and he had to settle for 51st. Gwin is third in the standings and his speed in Switzerland only proved that Gwin is ready to win more races this season. The next UCI World Cup Mountain Bike World Cup will take place in less than a month at Mont-Saint-Anne, Canada from August 5-6.
